Israel's national anthemReader comment on item: Harems Accepted in the West Submitted by Mike Woolen (United States), Jun 1, 2007 at 04:32 Mr. Pipes: Your article about Raleb Majadele's (Israel's first Muslim Arab minister of state) refusal to sing Israel's national anthem, Hatikva, was very interesting. His words leaped out of the page at me: "I fail to understand how an enlightened, sane Jew allows himself to ask a Muslim person with a different language and culture, to sing an anthem that was written for Jews only." Here in the United States many illegal Latinos might have worded it: "I fail to understand how an enlightened, sane American allows himself to ask a Latino person with a different language and culture, to sing an anthem that was written for Americans only." Looking at it from that perspective brings it home for me. Some of the illegals in our country don't intend to learn English and they have desecrated our flag while flying the Mexican flag. I seriously doubt that they would sing our national anthem. We are committing national cultural suicide and with open borders it will be full speed ahead. What can George Bush and the congress be thinking? This makes my blood boil. Thanks.
