a road seldom travelledReader comment on item: Conservative pundit argues for 'victory' over Palestinians Submitted by housam (United States), Nov 6, 2007 at 23:04 i am a palestinian who feels extemely revolted by the current affairs of my own people and the rampant corruption that plagues any branch of the so called palestinian govenment. With that being said i think mr.pipes is missing the point completely in this article. In human history it can be clearly observed that when a population feels threated the political move has certainly always been to the right..whether it be the israeli govenment's move to a more hawkish right with sharon since the 2000 second intifada or here in the US.. So for him to say the solution is to use deterrence is completely obsured. such actions will simply increase the popularity of hamas (which i personally despise) which in so many ways could be construed as a far right movement and then what...the israeli's will go even further right until the simple equation of either we die or they die occurs....i would hardly call that a solution. i think the solution is simple and for those who really want peace ...the two state solution should be pushed forward and implemented and a security pact should be signed between israel and the US for protection...if after the solution is implemented israel is threated in any way then there is no question as to who the aggressors are. you cannot claim to be a victim of anything if you are holding something that does not belong to you.. i'm not talking politics i'm talking common sense. give what is not yours and the world, including me, will defend your right to exist..
