It is Written - Gaza is Forsaken - Egypt Sees That - Why Nobody Else Does.Reader comment on item: How to Turn Gaza Over to Egypt Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Feb 8, 2008 at 12:46 One should be careful of pulling rings if there is no idea what the ring is attached to. In this instance of Egypt and Gaza, pulling a ring may be analogous to pulling the ring on a hand grenade. Whatever predicament the population of Gaza may be in, it is not going to be solved by goading Egypt into foster care over the orphaned ‘Palestinian' people caught in the vacuum left vacant by the Israeli withdrawal. Neither the PA nor Hamas had the ability to take over and oversee the governmental functions necessary in Gaza after the Israeli departure. Egypt would fare little better, since in technical reality, Egyptians are not Arabic. So, whether or not there is a humanitarian reason for getting involved, there is even less of a reason due to ethnic ‘kinship'. For that matter, if one were to look at the discussion elsewhere about the tribal aspect of much of the Middle Eastern populations, how does one classify ‘Palestinian' when there is no historical national heritage to draw upon and being Arabic usually means tracing one's roots to the land of the Saudi's. Do we see more than rhetoric and/or ideology as to whose responsibility the ‘Palestinians' are? Since it evident that they cannot seem to self govern, whether by Fatah or Hamas, or (?), to whom should this challenge be given? As it says in the Hebrew Scriptures, Gaza is forsaken. Hosni Mubarak should be commended for self control and not run hysterically from the question screaming "No!, No!, No!". He appears to have a better sense about the situation than any would give him credit for, for it would be the death of the Egyptian government we see today to take on Gaza. President Mubarak WANTS that border fence in place because it is his only current form of insurance from self-destruction that Egypt can maintain. To redirect, reader Nat elsewhere in this discussion has got it right, Gaza is Israel's according to the promise given to Abraham. Gaza, like so many other locations mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures, has its place in the continuing revelation of the Almighty Sovereign as it relates to the circumstances surrounding Israel. Look around and see that in similar fashion, the enemies of Israel in Lebanon are wrenching at the bit to get another chance, if possible, to further dislodge Israel from its security in their land, using Iranian sponsored leverage with Syria to keep the Israeli's guessing where the next attack will come from. If as we read the Israeli's are planning to exercise a military prerogative and re-enter Gaza to quell the rockets and deter more sophisticated efforts on the part of terrorist militants now entrenched in the strip, it may be perceived as enough of a distraction that a coordinated effort from the north might put the IDF in a squeeze, which would take this from a border skirmish to something no one is going to be ready for, an all out conflict that not even the Road Map to Peace being promoted by the United States can solve. Some have called for open military activity on the part of Israel to insure their national security. Under the dark cloud of the given situation and surrounding circumstances such a scenario is likely, and since it does have Hebrew Scriptures describing that very thing (which many seem to be ignoring), it appears that all is left is the timing.
