The New Yorker's Cartoon on the Obama's deserves a bit of thought.Submitted by Uni-faceted New Yorker Responses-let's be real! (United States), Jul 14, 2008 at 16:27 The Democratic and Republican responses have been predictible and indeed tedious as regards the July 21st edition cover of the New Yorker magazine. The obvious intent of the author of this cartoon was to damage the far right fear mongers of Islam. No doubt the very far "anything" is not a good place to be, but sometimes when both parties get vociferous about a cartoon or satire, they obviously are afraid that it might contain even a scintilla of truth, or maybe even something a little larger. Until Obama's recent panderings to the middle, even the far-left was aligned with the left-leaning radicals that are the Obamas.Without going into regurgitated details, there is no doubt as to the Obama's leanings. They believe in analogy, like Albert Camus did of the poor French, that the government is responsible for the perpetuation of the lower classes, and that the government must right these wrongs. If that isn't a left-leaning Obama belief, I don't know what is. Even in the face of our inability to fight two wars simultaneously (and that need will soon come), Obama believes that money must again be diverted from the military to the poor inner city denizens, a la the Clinton presidency and the damage Bill did to that military institution that he loathed. Even an untutored idiot can recognize that the Obamas breathe new life into the idea of a more Muslim America. Obama sat in a church pew for twenty years, listening to his shrill reverend who supported black liberation theology, which under the surface, embodies many of the attitudes held by black-American Muslim "theology." I worked as a physician in the inner city of Newark NJ for many years, and know well that that city's black community, many of whom are militant Islamic blacks, embraces the very elements of Obama that undermine our Republic's many qualities. They blame the US Government for their personal woes and local gangs, and drugs, and the many black youth with the amotivational syndrome imparted by cannabis. So the satiric burning flag in the fireplace has been done before and frequently by the very black Islamic communities for which Obama grieves. The "bumped fists" are the preferred inner city black Muslim handshake, and automatic weapons are indeed available amongst the many supporters of "Obamadom." Of course Obama supports the black Muslim cause...that "cause" has had its fists wrapped around the inner city black community's Muslim contingent since the sixties in Newark, Chicago, and LA, amongst others. You simply can not sit in such a church for twenty years every Sunday and not invest in the tenets of black liberation theology-black Muslim culture...unless he was lobotomized, and medically, we know that not to be the case. So the New Yorker cartoon is indeed a bit excessive, but the non-astute may dismiss it out of hand as lacking any truth, as do the Obamas and McCains. There are some elements of truth in that cartoon, and indeed, isn't that what satire is all about?
