DeludedReader comment on item: Iran in Crisis Submitted by Eklektos (United States), Jul 23, 2002 at 20:21 The people of Iran, much like those of the old Soviet Union, have come to realize that their leaders are inhumane, insane, and inept. Given the demographics of the country this leadership will never be able to hold power. As to the larger question of Islamic rule in other countries it too will decline, though it may not be at its apex. But if Irans' Islamic regime falls and a more secular one takes its place then Islamism will have been dealt a serious blow. The problem is that Islamicism offers nothing but tyranny, brutality, and economic hoplessness. The regime in Iran thinks by sucking up to secular Hussein they might save themselves, they are wrong. Sadams' days are numbered, should the Iranian regime interfere they will only hasten their fall. The last time we dismantled Iraqs army in two weeks, and they are now even weaker. Militarily he cannot win, nor Iran for that matter. I hope the Imams have the good sense to stay out of it, so that the Iranian people can bring about changes from within. Iran is at heart a cultured and literate people, I'm saddened to see what these fanatics have brought them too.
