Islam is the problem, not just the militantsReader comment on item: The Moderation of American Muslims Submitted by Tom Kempf (United States), Apr 10, 2004 at 21:07 Having watched the unfolding hatred for western ideas from the muslim world, I have recently come to the conclusion that Islam itself is the problem. I won't pretend I have any idea what the solution is, but IMHO the problem is not simply militant Islam. The very core of that culture is vehemently anti-freedom, anti-individual. It is primitive conformity that fears other cultures and wants to force it's own values on them. Just because most of their people don't have the will to act on these premises doesn't mean they don't agree with it. Seems most of them do. And many of them ARE acting to destroy us.Judging by the survey results in this article, even those Muslims living in a free country such as ours cannot put their past behind them and embrace our values. Eventually they will be a real internal threat to the rest of us, again IMHO. I highly recommend everybody to go to www.aynrand.org/medialink/ and look for their essays on the subject. They are a great complement to Daniel Pipe's own body of work. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
