MOHAMMEDISMReader comment on item: The Moderation of American Muslims Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Apr 30, 2004 at 10:27 We are at war with a philosophy, not a religion. As Americans, we are prohibited from actions regarded as hostile toward any religious belief system. If Marxism had been left unchallenged for hundreds of years, and the body of theories elevated to a "Religion", then the chant of .."There is no god but Communism, and Marx is its prophet" would resound around the world, and none would dare challenge it.If the philosophy of Mohammed which animates Mohammedians, and ALL so called Muslims subscribe to the philosophy, Why are non-Mohammedians drawn into the mundane details of islam, muslim, sunni, shiite,ad nausum. I understand the attraction for academics to parse the philosophy in order to "Understand" and be "Sensitive" to the Mohammedians, but does this serve the interests of the secular state? No, It serves to confuse, divide, an mislead. We do not need to discredit the religion, but a philosophy which, at its core, promotes perpetual war based on religion is fair game and should be treated as the threat it is.Moderate Mohammedism is much like moderate Marxism, one may not actively make war on the capitalist, but the adherant still embraces the idea of class warfare, and given the appropriate setting will act. Which is why we see no "Moderate Mohammedians" THEY DON'T EXIST. If one has such strong beliefs to wear the clothes, keep the celebratory days, immerse themselves in the teachings of Mohammed, where does the "Moderation?" come from??
