Re: Peter HerzReader comment on item: Erdoğan Bares His Fangs Submitted by D.Ata (Turkey), Jan 9, 2009 at 02:18 Imam is the man who prays in the mosque. When Erdogan used the term "Imam of Istanbul", even Turkish people did not understand what he meant. He explained later saying he meant "chief of of Istanbul". In Turkish society imam is not chief or leader. But this man brought a foreign mentality to the country. Later, we learnt that this terminology belonged to Iran culture. Erdogan's mentality is totally different than his own country. Erdogan and AKP have been trying to transform Turkey and its culture from secular/tolerant to fanatic/extremist. We believe this man will bring catastrophe to not only Turkey, to also the region. Now, here there is harsh struggle between secular, pro-western part of nation and Erdogan minded people. Very Ironically, western countries supported AKP and Erdogan in this hidden war. I would like you pay attention to the similarities between the rise of Hitler with NSDAP and Erdogan with AKP.
