Jews sufferedReader comment on item: The Democrats and Israel Submitted by Ali Ahmed (Canada), Jan 22, 2009 at 18:57 Jews have suffered a lot in their history there is no question about that. The stand of Democrats and Republicans with the Jews every step of the way is also understandable. The strive by Jews for a pure Jewish State is also understandable. The biggest problem is the creation of this State on a land that is shared with the Palestinians. Sharing should be the key to a solution. Here is what I think should be done. 1) One country with two parliaments. One for Palestinians and the other for Jews. The land will be divided between them not necessarily in equal parts. Israel can keep the bigger part because Palestinians have the depth of the Arab world. 2) A law will restrict Jews from buying Palestinian land and Palestinians from buying Jew land. Arabs within the 1948 border will be allowed to buy extra land only in the Palestinian area and major settlements will not be dismantled. 3) Palestinian refugees will be allowed to come back and settle in the Palestinian area. Only those living in refugee camps will be allowed to return. But, Jews can come and settle in their area as they wish because of their small number. 4) Palestinians will have their own government and Jews will have their own government. 5) Palestinians will be protected by the Israeli army from an outside invader. They will not be allowed to have an army. Only police men and security personnel will be allowed. Palestinians will be protected from Israel by some kind of an international force.
