Dr. ObamaReader comment on item: The Democrats and Israel Submitted by Jay (United States), Jan 24, 2009 at 15:02 Dr. Pipes is right when he suggests that all and all,the Democrats are not particularily hostile to Israel. The democrats however, much like many Israelis frankly, see conflict often, as not good vs evil, but humanity vs war. While well intented,it often blurs culprits and cops in a drive for a better mankind. Republicans seem to have a better grasp of intangibiles, like lines in the sand and self interest. It is if you will,a desire to reward reality and only the right, not the poor guilty loser.Placating a poor wrong looser vs a triumpant winner is where the democrats ,at times, veer off to the left. To be sure still, the Democrats are not anti Israeli, with the exception of Jimmy Carter and his gang of misguided fools.Obama deserves a fresh chance at a fresh start in foreign affairs. And oddly,he may be a far more important figure than at first glance. For on the subject of Iran,Obama is in a postion to play doctor one way or another. On the subject of Iran, either Obama will play a Doctor of Phychology, and try to understand everything thats bothering the Mullahs with careful pen and pad,or offer an appreciated second opinion to President Bush, whether or not Iran is getting close to a terrible weapon, and prescribing a strong remedy. For my taste, I vote for the second opinion doctor. Its not that all shrinks are bad, its just that they tend to be poorly suited for 911 calls.
