This is a beautiful example of why Islam cannot be allowed to achieve its goals.Reader comment on item: CAIR Co-Hosts an Antisemitic Rally in Chicago Submitted by CanadianChris (Canada), Jan 29, 2009 at 16:13 The very fact that these protesters can carry signs of hate and discrimination without fear of violence against them(although there may be legal implications) is a shining example of why Islam cannot be allowed to succeed in its goals. In a country that is primarily Islamic, and especially one that encourages radical Islam, people carrying these signs would be faced with a very real threat of violence against them which would not be discouraged strongly by the local sharia law based government. In a non-Islamic democratic country, people can feel safe to protest and speak up against whatever they feel needs to be addressed. For example, if I were to carry a sign that read, "Allah is a joke", or 'Muhammed never existed", in North America, I might meet up with people who do not approve my message, but I would not typically feel any worry of violence(generally speaking), But in many of the Islamic countries(generally speaking), that freedom does not exist. In fact, I could face possible death for speaking my mind like this. This is why the Islamic state cannot be allowed to have any real power. In North America these people feel safe to equate Israel to a Fascist state, and to use the most insulting imagery and terminology, but they would not tolerate the same against themselves. I am sorry, but it is a double edged sword, if you want that kind of freedom to express your hateful beliefs, then you have to be prepared to have the most insulting and offensive imagery and terminology used against your own religion. And tolerate it, because you expect your own offensive behaviour to be tolerated. Islam and Mohammed are no more important than Christianity and Christ, Judaism and YHVH or Buddhism and Buddha, or Hinduism and Vishnu, Krishna, and Brahma and so on. There are many ways up the mountain so to speak. No religion should be set above another and every religion should have tolerance and show respect for those who do not follow its tenets. Every religion that cannot show this kind of tolerance and respect should be resisted by every thinking person wherever they may be.
