Leaders are naive about IslamReader comment on item: Calling Islamism the Enemy Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Feb 28, 2009 at 09:40 Jaquese Chirac talks through his hat, when he speaks of moderate Islam. It is like searching for a leopard without spots. When Islam believes that Koran is immutable and every word in it is God's very own words, anyone who is a moderate and ignores the violent exhortations of Koran is likely to face the wrath of common muslims who per force subscribe to fundamentalist tendencies. Even Jihad or waging war against unbelievers is as fundamental as Shahada (belief in Allah and Mohammed as his only prophet), Salat (Prayer), Zakat (Poor tax), Haj (pilgrimage) and Sawm (fasting during Ramdan month). Islam actually has six pillars not five. The atmosphere in the present Muslim society world over does not permit a Muslim to pick and choose from these six pillars. Any such attempt will be Kufr, or an act of disbelief. For politicians, it is a matter of necessity to be ambivelant. But, unfortunately for citizens, if these people who are at the helm of political affairs, fail to identify the antagonist clearly, whether it is Muslims or Islam, their strategies cannot work, as they are aimed at wrong target. As long as the universal belief of Muslims that Koran and Sunnah are immutable holds field, the violent world view of Islam will hold field in the Muslim world. It is necessary to use the all-powerful tool of information to drum in the idea that nothing is immutable in this world; that change is the only permanent factor in life; that the principles which found application in a desert country over fourteen centuries back cannot hold field in this vastly different socio-politico-economic world. Unless muslim world realises that they and their must religion must adopt to the changing world, searching for a moderate muslim is like searching for proverbial needle in the haystack. Outsiders must realise that the life of a so-called liberal muslim is highly risky one. The notion of outsiders strengthening moderate Islam is naive to say the least. The violent political ideology of Islam which is masquarading as religion poses such a grave threat to the world today, that all the non-muslim political leaders of both East and West must be given a intorudctory course about Koran and Sunnah. The leaders must first recognise that there is nothing called spirituality in Islam. It is all about domination of world by the believers in the Prophet.
