More of the same for Northern VirginiaReader comment on item: Saudi Strong-arm Tactics in Virginia Submitted by JimWoods (United States), Mar 23, 2009 at 02:30 This reminds me of a similar event in Northern Virginia, which was a townhall meeting held by Rep. Wolf several years ago. The cause of the organized audience demonstrations related to a series of FBI raids on Islamic institutions in the area over terrorism financing. The crowd essentially bullied the congressman into addressing their issue when he attempted to defer to the FBI, as it was an executive action subject to judicial oversight and not a legislative issue (similar to a response he had made related to the Arthur Anderson implosion). The long and short is that the audience demonstrators monopolized the agenda by repeating the same questions even after he offered to meet with them separately on the issue. However, the effectiveness of such irrationally confrontational tactics was not lasting. In addition to his work on Dafur, Rep. Wolf has recently been in the news for his efforts to expose the text books at the ISA to scrutiny, his seeking a public statement on the FBI's new policy towards CAIR, and his opposition to the nomination of Charles Freeman.
