This article has added some more context to comments I have read elsewhere about the sexual dimension of the Abu Ghraib scandal. On the other hand, it raises the question as to how at least a few women have been able to rise to positions of political leadership in such varied Islamic (although notably not Arab) countries as Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia.
