Change for the betterReader comment on item: Ahmadinejad or Mousavi? Submitted by Ralph C. Whaley MD (United States), Jun 20, 2009 at 11:32 America's founding was based on a wide spread understanding among the founders of the concept of individual rights identified by John Lock in 1690. Individualism was implicit in the views of the vast majority of the colonists which made the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and America become reality. The alternative facing every nation in chosing a government is Individual Rights or tyranny. The future of Iran is uncertain but if a nation of freedom, prosperity, benovelence and happiness is ever to exist there, the concept of Individual rights must be widely understood and embraced. The alternative of freedom or tyranny is yet to be discovered in Iran sufficient to make a difference in the alternatives now being considered.
