shortcomings of islamReader comment on item: Distinguishing between Islam and Islamism Submitted by pete (United States), Jul 2, 2009 at 08:26 this article concerns mainly islam and somewhat other religions. first is to say that all the prophets were super intelligent people and at the time of their existence found a need to so to say make a rule book for the guidance and betterment of humanity. each devised certain rules to best direct the people that they were dealing with. Mohammad was dealing with arabs that history says were barbarians and also used to bury their daughters alive. he also was in a city that was in the silk route meaning he had access to books coming from west and east. greek philosophy and chinese philosophy. he was also an orphan and was raised by his grandfather that means he had training from an older and wiser man. the people that he had set straight at that time were highly inhuman and barberian people so in turn he had to devise very strict methods for these people to stay believers of God for a long time to come. one of his methods was have his followers do certain motions when praying to God one of which is bowing. human is material and spirit and it is a well known fact that when you mentally and physically do something like for example soldier salute their supirior physically and verbally. Islam prayer you pray 5 times a day and repeat several times your pact with God and his greatness also do physical gesture of obedience . Combination of both done simultaneously has almost iresisstable effect on human being specially when it is done automatically without too much thinking which registers it in the person's subconcious. I assume that the arabs were also very sexually active people not to say that other nationality are not active, but he felt that some rules and restriction had to be set. He came up with the women covering themselves head to toe. This also strengthened the point that it is a man's world. This also has to be said that Mohammad had 63 wives. It is said that he had married some of the wives just because their husbands were dead and he wanted to support them. Now the shortcoming of islam. First it is that every muslims is to pray 5 times a day and has to do certain wash proceedure before he prays. Combination of both takes say 20 minutes and if you have to go to location may be more time. 2 hours of productive day is spent. Second there is month of fasting that is 1/12 of the year and the people who have fasted know that you can not be productive at all. So each male functions for 11/12 of the time and let's say there is 10 hour of work per day and 2 hours spent for prayer. that is 4/5 of 11/12 is 73 percent also women can not participate much in the work force let's say they are half of population. then 73 percent divided by 2 is 38 percent. There is no way in this world moslem nations with 38 percent efficiency can compete with other non-moslem nation with 100 percent efficiency. This seperation of men and women and socially closed nature of islam somewhat prevents free flow of information. Social interaction has a lot to do with human progress. Fasting is present in many of the religions in the world but not practiced to this intensity of continious for one month. It is said that fasting will erase subconcious habits onf which is excessive lust to opposite sex. For example when you see juicy hamburger you mouth subconciouly waters. Fastin is suppose to erase the subconcious associations, but fasting also erases creativity and scientific invention association as well. The ancient countries of the world before they became islamic were the leaders of innovations and advancement of humanity, like egypt or persia. History will show that all the igenuity was washed after becoming moslem. There is not a well to do or industrialized moslem nation if it was not for natural resources like oil or other material. Moslem people have a tendency to think that they are helpless in directing their futures and whatevr God wants for their future will happen. They throw their hand in the air and wait for things turn in their favor. This attitude come from subconciously repeating that they are nothing compared to god, that is true but it sinks in them that they are nothing. These reasons that they can not compete with the other non-muslim nations drives them to frustration and revert to terrorist and violent actions. Jesus used kindness method to direct people to right path. Forgiveness. Confession is not meant that do the wrong thing and confess everything will be okay, but it is meant that if anything wrong is done , bu going to confession you realizing that it was wrong to do also it is that don't get hung up on one mistake and to say that dust yourself and move on. The crucifiction was injustice thing that happened and I think the followers try to practice that no injustice happen to any person. Furthermore particularly for shiite moslems at certain time of the year beat, bleed, ans torture themselves to sympathize with the hardship of decendant's of Mohammad. This action subconciouly put in their mind that hurting themselves, torturing themselves and making themselves go through hardship is the right thing to do.
