Sad situation in IraqReader comment on item: Limping away from a Shattered Iraq Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jul 9, 2009 at 14:48 It is so sad that now that the troops have left the cities, the violence continues. The AP reported over 50 people killed in violence today---when will it all end? Saddam Hussein's demise now seems nonproportional compared to the continued killings in Iraq. It was a war we never should have entered into in the first place. As an American living in Cairo in 2003, it was very uncomfortable knowing that my country was preparing for war, not too far from Egypt. Granted, the Egyptians and other Arabs had little love for Saddam Hussein, but the Iraqi people were another story. Although generally speaking the US military overseas has a good reputation, this latest war has proved to be unpopular and dragged out much longer than originally planned. My heart goes out to the Iraqi people and pulling our troops out later than sooner hasn't helped to vindicate our military, the people running it, or our government.
