Check your weapons pleaseReader comment on item: Salam Fayyad Says Yes to Jews Living in a Palestinian State? Submitted by Frank (United States), Jul 9, 2009 at 17:26 Even Arafat was bold enough to remove his gun and holster when meeting the president at the White House. He even learned how to smile for our cameras - not the sinister Palestinian smile after a successful suicide bombing, hijacking, or 9-11 - but an American smile. But then receiving a Nobel Peace Prize after also being hailed as the world's foremost terrorist organizer has to be something to laugh about, not just smile. But how many hours after he returned home did it take for him to lift up his bullhorn and begin again with the call of "death" and "jihad" to his fellow warriors? Until Arab politicos announce, declare, and insist, to their own people that Israel has a God-given right to exist as a state, just as the U.N. declared, then their American peace-offerings should be ignored. They will not be translated into Arabic. When the so-called Palestinian authorities publically "condemn" incitement and terrorism - something even the U.N. has a hard time doing - then we'll know that something is changing. When they change their postered maps and logos which show Palestine covering up and deleting the State of Israel, we'll take note of real actions. When they change their national Charter, which is effectively a Declaration of War against the Jewish entity - something they agreed to do publically to the U.S. government and president - then we'll pay attention. Until then, their words should be ignored completely. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
