ahem ... it's YHWH not HaShem ...Reader comment on item: On Islam and Islamism Submitted by Oliver (United States), Nov 14, 2009 at 12:10 Of course you are entitled to your 'opinions' – but – the way I read it YHWH created the world so that His Name might be praised and glorified throughout all creation by His chosen people. I ask you, how can His Name be praised and glorified at all if 'His people' have 'forgotten' how to pronounce it and 'they' hide the meaning of His Word (or so they think) within the secrecy of 'their' traditions. Isa 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, He that created the heavens, and stretched them forth, He that spread forth the earth and that which cometh out of it, He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: Isa 42:6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and have taken hold of thy hand, and kept thee, and set thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nations; Isa 42:7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house. Isa 42:8 I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images. Isa 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them. YHWH called His covenant people to be 'for a light of the nations' to open the eyes of the blind and to set free the captives who sit in darkness. "I AM – YHWH – THAT IS MY NAME" Proclaim IT – Praise IT – Glorify IT – don't hide IT under a cloak of secrecy – that, my friend is truly blasphemy. Neh 1:4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven, Neh 1:5 and said: 'I beseech Thee, O LORD, the God of heaven, the great and awful God, that keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments; Neh 1:6 let Thine ear now be attentive, and Thine eyes open, that Thou mayest hearken unto the prayer of Thy servant, which I pray before Thee at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel Thy servants, while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against Thee; yea, I and my father's house have sinned. Neh 1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against Thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances which Thou didst command Thy servant Moses. Neh 1:8 Remember, I beseech Thee, the word that Thou didst command Thy servant Moses, saying: If ye deal treacherously, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples; Neh 1:9 but if ye return unto Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though your dispersed were in the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to cause My name to dwell there. Neh 1:10 Now these are Thy servants and Thy people, whom Thou hast redeemed by Thy great power, and by Thy strong hand. Neh 1:11 O Lord, I beseech Thee, let now Thine ear be attentive to the prayer of Thy servant, and to the prayer of Thy servants, who delight to fear Thy name; and prosper, I pray Thee, Thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.' Now I was cupbearer to the king. How can anyone 'delight to fear His Name' when no one knows how to say IT – for it must be kept a secret. Psa 91:14 'Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. Psa 91:15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and bring him to honour. Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and make Him to behold My salvation.' Blessings are promised to 'him' that loves YHWH – 'him' that 'knows His Name' and calls upon Him shall see Salvation. Isa 48:1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the fountain of Judah; who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. Isa 48:2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel, the LORD of hosts is His name. Isa 48:9 For My name's sake will I defer Mine anger, and for My praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. Isa 48:11 For Mine own sake, for Mine own sake, will I do it; for how should it be profaned? And My glory will I not give to another. Can't 'you' see that YHWH's praise and glory is tied to His Name – that He does things 'for His Name's sake' 'for His own sake'. 'For His own (Name's) sake' He will do these things 'for how should IT be profaned?' Isa 52:5 Now therefore, what do I here, saith the LORD, seeing that My people is taken away for nought? They that rule over them do howl, saith the LORD, and My name continually all the day is blasphemed. Isa 52:6 Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore they shall know in that day that I AM even He that spoke, behold, here I AM. His 'people shall know His Name' 'they shall know in that day that I AM – behold – I AM'. Eze 20:9 But I wrought for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among whom they were, in whose sight I made Myself known unto them, so as to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt. Eze 20:14 But I wrought for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out. Eze 20:22 Nevertheless I withdrew My hand, and wrought for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth. Eze 20:44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for My name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.' Read the whole chapter of Eze 20 – it's very enlightening – AND it's not a secret.
