Just another false hope

I cannot believe that Saudi Arabia will ever open up. Too much of their way of life depends upon their interpretation of Islam, and without that, they will lose their identity. Oil has given them surface wealth beyond imagination, but that may not always be the case. They are the nouveau rich of the Middle East, playing high stakes in the modern world while clinging to their tribal ways. Separation of gender still seems to be the order of the day, with public transportation and cafes for women only. As long as there is this separation of the sexes, Saudi Arabia will stay entrenched in its medieval time warp. If true liberation is really around the corner, then the world can celebrate.
