Plus ca changeReader comment on item: Reflections on Hosni Mubarak's Resignation Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Feb 12, 2011 at 08:01 I recall watching an old movie I believe it was called "The Dogs of war" where we have an African country where its citizens were trying to topple a dictator and indeed they find a new leader who tells who ever is listening that he is a democrat and with the help of the west the dictator is captured and killed but the new leader proves to be another dictator or plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose This is what I expect will happen in Egypt, a dictator is gone and a new dictator will replace him and I hope he will not be this despicable character Omer Suliman or one of those sordid members of the fascist Muslim brotherhood One final point: I have been reading the jokes about the Mubarak regime posted by Egyptians on the web and this is the best one I came across and I will need to explain it as I did not even get it the first time I read it and it goes as follows: Egyptians used to call 1/25 of each year as Yum el-bolees/shurta or the Police day (the day of the uprising against the British in Cairo on 1/25/1952). Now Egyptians want to combine such day with Mothers day and Interfaith day and make them one day and the new name would be: Deen Om el-Bolees Which I would translate it as: The name of this new day will be: I curse the religion of the mother of the Police! It sounds lame in English but in Egyptian Arabic it is really very funny Again I hope that Egyptians would get rid of amn el-dawla or Mubarak's secret police and find the killers of this young man Khaled Said whose killing by amn el-dawla was the rally point for this uprising Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
