from Michael in EgyptReader comment on item: Reflections on Hosni Mubarak's Resignation Submitted by M M Prince (Egypt), Feb 12, 2011 at 18:17 I'm an Egyptian Copt, Mr Pipes. Although I agree with you very much, but I take it on you that you haven't criticized the ego-centeric attitude of the American decision makers. Didn't we - copts - suffer for decades, under Sadat (whom you describe as a very positive personality by the way!) and Mubarak, and we wailed and screamed asking for your help [we were silly; we thought you were our brothers and sisters in Christ, or something] but you didn't help us? Even when one of us asked for a US visa to go and seek an opportunity - asylum or no asylum - in the US one was denied! And Muslims were given visas! I daresay the American stance towards all Christians in the middle east has been disgraceful, and you still claim to be Christians. Till this very day there are hundreds of asylum-seekers' cases suspended, while Muslims enjoy American patronship and are almost always welcome; for "multicultural" reasons I suppose. After 9/11 one thought that you finally learned the lesson and that you finally experienced our feelings; but what we found that America, instead of waging an intellectual war on Islam and blocking Muslim immigration into its lands and welcoming Christian Immigrants, -- instead of that, you fostered Islam and helped it to grow and prosper. And again we screamed for help, but you lent us plugged ears. Where are the Copts in your article, Mr Pipes?
