Thanks for the education DNM

DNM, I defer to your superior knowledge and thanks for the great detail. One day I will read up on all of this; fascinating stuff. I did think that Salafists consider themselves the original ones, even though they are 'reformed'. and interpret the Quran in its purity and literal meaning, thus the extreme behavior. It is an ironic reform movement considering that Radical Islam is the relatively new interpretation, and back 50 years ago, Egypt and all of those countries were secular and growing more westernized. Just goes to show that you can't put a civilized costume on age old tribal mentality.

If Wahhabis and Salafis are pretty much interchangeable (both derived from Saudi Imams in their practice and interpretation of Islam), are they only differentiated by their master Imam then? And the Muslim Brotherhood comes from Egypt, an alliance with the Saudis when they were kicked out of Egypt by Nasser, do they consider themselves Wahhabis?
