no need to be cynical

Professor Pipes: I'm talkin' to you! Don't be so cynical. Modesty is a good thing. Religious traditions in Westerm Democracies used to have the effect of promoting modesty. That's gone and the western democracies are poorer in spirit and in health for that reason. Modesty and beauty do not exclude each other. Indeed modesty has the effect of raising sexual intrigue. A women with a dress or skirt down to her ankles gets my interest a lot quicker than a woman parading down Main Street in what used to be reserved for beach attire. This development in Islam is a very hopeful one. I endorse it and I wish some of that reserve one finds in Islamic countries could be transposed to our country. We would be better off. Jewish Orthodox women tend to have that reserve and yet they are most attractive. I'm usually with you. But you are setting the wrong tone on this one. Be well.
