الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِسَاء بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى بَعْض ٍ وَبِمَا أَنفَقُوا مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ

This is the verse:

The men are protecters of women because Allah gave them preference to someof them over other other. And because they spend from their wealth.

This totally does not correspond to what you said Susan:

So how does modesty generate respect for a muslim woman's intellect when according to the Qur'an, females are deficient in intellect?

Thi is not even a discussion about intellect or anything like that. It talks about about men being the protectors [some translate providers as it fits with the second half] as Allah has given some preference over others. Plus it is mans duty to spend his money on te family - as it is not considered his possesion alone - where as women are meant retain their property ad wealth.

So - you did make it up. 2 comments and you did not even bother to post what the quran had to say.
