what makes a revolution?Reader comment on item: Egypt's Military Holds onto Power Submitted by myth (Germany), Jul 18, 2011 at 12:46 Active officers within the military may actively support the uprising one day. People in power who convert to the outside opposition make a true revolution. That has not happened so far. It is difficult to do also. How can only one group in power transfer and distribute its power to many groups ? Democracy would require just that. A handover of power now would benefit one group alone. Most likely this would be the islamists, an event to avoid. A constitution may express but an idea of democracy but it cannot produce it. The question is what can? Time is one ingredient to be sure.
