Attempting to Keep Us SafeReader comment on item: In Praise of NYC's Muscular Counterterrorism Submitted by Jules Posten (United States), Sep 13, 2011 at 13:29 the religious fanatics who are the most dangerous threat the US has ever faced. they have no compunction over taking American lives using any foul means at their disposal. this is the lesson we learned from the terrrible attacks of 9/11. simply put, these fanatics place no value on human life in order to spread their twisted ideas. since that awful day, they have probed and probed and continue to probe using any outlandish method possible in order to find a weak spot to exploit. we have seen shoe bombs, underwear bombs, leaving a smoking van, packed with explosives on one of the most busy streets in NYC. plots have been discovered where these zealots have made plans to attack army posts, subway lines etc. thankfully these crimes have been discovered and rooted out prior to their exceution. one attack that came off was when a serving US Army Officer brought an automatic weapon to an army post and murdered some thirteen unarmed innocent soldiers, while shouting how great his god was. there is no way to understand the man or his act. he is deserving of no mercy when he faces a court matrial. i cannot undertand why anyone can disagree with the efforts of the NYPD to help keep everyone in the New York area safe from these murderous attacks. it's obvious that people with a politically correct agenda, not only hate America values, but also the methods that have worked so far to keep these religious fanatics at bay. they seem to have a "forgive and forget" attitude towards these people who will kill and main at every opportunity. they feel that we should forgive and forget so that Americans can face the future without rancour and with compassion towards these killers. what the politically correct crowd forgets is that these fanatics regard compassion and forgiveness as signs of weakness and proof that our society is worthless. we must remain ever vigilant.and always keep our guard up, using what ever resources are needed to defeat these "faithful followers of death and destruction" this effort must con tinue no matter what the politically correct wish and desire. it is better to err on the side of safety, rather then have to face the regret of not doing enough.
