Wishing seems futileReader comment on item: In Praise of NYC's Muscular Counterterrorism Submitted by David (United States), Sep 19, 2011 at 13:48 I know it's futile to wish that our government would hire people that actually understood the enemy but I wish it anyway. "Mistakes" made in Iraq were because "we" didn't understand the enemy. "Mistakes" made in Afganistan are due to not understanding the enemy. "Mistakes" made in dealing with Islamic governments are due to not understanding them. They do not think the way we would like for them to think and insisting that they think the way we want them to will not make it so. From generation to generation they've been raised to think of our way of thinking as a serious and fatal weakness that they can take advantage of to eventually win their objective. The Chinese think the very same way as do all the other totalitarian organizations in the world. They do not respect anything but power and whatever it takes to win over those they see as opponents which is anyone but themselves. Everyone needs to be conscious of the fact that however you treat someone you give them permission to treat you the same way and you should expect to receive what you hand out or worse. This is how "those" people think and anyone is a fool not to acknowledge it. Kindness, patience, generosity, and sympathy are fatal weaknesses in their view.
