Obama's religion is political expediencyReader comment on item: Obama a Muslim? Tales from the Campaign Trail Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Feb 25, 2012 at 19:22 Whatever Islamic law says about Obama on the basis of what his father and stepfather were, I'm of the opinion that Obama's religion is political expediency. When membership in the Reverend Wright's UCC congregation was politically useful to him, he spent 20 years as a member of that church. When Wright's views of various groups and "damn the USA" rhetoric threatened his presidential campaign, Wright got dropped like a dead rodent. As for Obama's Christianity, it doesn't seem very well thought out. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, and rose from the dead on the third day--two important fundamentals of the faith. Hence, when Obama addressed the Islamic conference in Cairo, his "peace be upon him" formula uttered after naming Jesus sounded a distinctly Islamic rather than Christian note. A Christian would've called Jesus' peace down on us, rather than wishing our peace on him, as if he were merely another dead person. But, was this Obama trying to "blend in" with his Islamic audience, or Obama merely being terribly ignorant about the Christian faith he professes, or both?
