Objective TruthReader comment on item: Radical Islam's Hypocrisy Submitted by Margaret D. (United States), Jan 20, 2005 at 13:29 Grateful for Dr. Pipes' democratic purpose and vigilance. Thank you.I also appreciate Ms. Johanson's comments to Zee. Ms. Johanson, you speak of certain groups, Liberals etc. (groups that strongly tend to self-identify as being somehow more moral and peaceful and certainly more rationally intelligent than those people they can't understand) who fail to grasp the Truth (with a capital T) and in that I think you nail something important. The sort of Truth you refer to (again, w/ your large T) is always Objective. This kind of truth is transpersonal and goes very strongly towards supporting/displaying either a personal or collective belief in God; or, at least in a social order that relies confidently upon shared healthy values. Objective truth, by its nature, honors human change and progress. The current day morally elite -- in whatever group they put themselves into --- are very far away from being able to appreciate any kind of objective truth. If they had any desire for such a relationship to truth, first they would have to give up their social and mental indulgences that place them always into "Me and Everyone Like Me as a Victim" mode and to do that they would have to understand how not be be completely selfishly motivated. For Liberals, admitting that practicing extreme cultural relativism (as a cover for feelings of personal shame) is simply not doing the job that many good sessions with a shrink (or a spiritual encounter) would accomplish. I believe they need to look into what they've rejected in the spiritual realm and reconsider the shamebased propositions that Liberalism rests its shakey legs upon. The Muslim religious crazies need to better understand and adopt some of the value that cultural relativism offers (and give up their unwarranted shame too). They basically need to do the same thing as the Liberals with the spiritual realm. They both need to find religions that work... religions that don't rely on blame and shame. Once the Muslims and the Liberals are willing to be proud of themselves and their fellow citizens, and once they stop blaming, they will have made that important first step towards understanding generosity of spirit and objectivite Truth. Personally, I believe this is worth hoping and fighting for .. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
