Yes, the aims of CAIR are anti-democratic. CAIR is duplicitous and their intentions could be very destructive if realized. At the same time, there is no proper reason to suppose that Islam, in and of itself, could not function perfectly well within a democracy. As with other world religions who have come to live with democracy, Islam will need to climb out of its comfy but dangerous swamp and cultivate reformation on all levels religious and social. There is ultimately no long term survival, never mind progress, in the kind of fundamentalist paradigm most Muslims find themselves in ... and CAIR is a fundamentalist wolf in a democratic sheep's clothing, holding those it purports to help hostage to their own selfish and limited future. Keep writing, Dr. Pipes.
