Obama chose his mentorsReader comment on item: How Barack Obama Sees the United States Submitted by Ken C. (United States), Sep 4, 2012 at 20:43 As most who have gone to college know, none of those professors were forced on Obama, as if he were some innocent child who's mind was corrupted by Marxist and Islamic ideologies. Especially at Columbia, students select those classes as electives, fully aware beforehand exactly what they will be learning about. From word of mouth, course abstracts, textbook lists, and professor's background, they are all available before signing up. And the fact that Obama took so many similar courses from similarly-minded professors is another clue to his preconceived notions about politics. Nor was it an accident that his mentor at church and his close friends thought the same way. Obama clearly chose to study under those who would support his preconceptions and ideas.
