the band playing on the TitanicReader comment on item: Another Islamist Assault, Another Western Cringe Submitted by john w mcginley (United States), Sep 13, 2012 at 11:43 As usual your analysis is tight and informative. But it is all for naught, akin to the orchestra on the Titanic as the ship was sinking with so many people to be lost. The reality is that Obama will be elected. Mostly due to the inability of Romney to connect with the the people on a gut level. Most of those who support Obama support him in their gut. That will never happen with Romney and that is truly a tragedy. Newt Gingrich had some scandal about him. But people related to him on a gut level. If Gingrich were the candidate he would have a solid ten point advantage in the polls by now. And there is this. Obama represents, in the final analysis, what the majority of Americans wants: more handouts; transfer of wealth from those who have it to those who don't have it combined with a willingness to no longer be a major power in the world. This election is the tipping point. By 2016 it won't matter who the Republican candidate might be. The only question is just how swiftly America will decline.. In a second Obama term there will be unprecedented usurption of the power of Congress. Likewise, when Obama gets to appoint a fifth liberal justice to the Supreme Court he will be validated in all he does. In effect we will be governed by a tyrant. Israel will be on its own. I flinch at how much Israeli citizens will suffer if and when Natanyau stops playing Hamlet and issues the order to bomb the hell out of Iran. There will be something akin to a bloodbath in Israel even if Israel prevails over Hezbollah and Khamas. Even so, I believe that Israel should strike Iran on its own BEFORE the election. For one thing only something so dramatic has the ability to possibly reverse the the otherwise certainty that Obama will win the Presidential election. Further, if Israel waits too long not only will an Israeli strike be in effective; the greatest danger is that Israel will lose its soul by waiting too long. Where is Ariel Sharon! Natanyahu lacks that special character of leadership. ((In some ways he is the Romney of Israel.)) I hope I am wrong on all counts. ...
