Can we take off the Union Jacked glasses for a minute...Reader comment on item: The End of American Jewry's Golden Era Submitted by ArmyDicked (United States), Nov 25, 2012 at 03:59 Churchill was a Pragmatist who would throw God Himself under a bus if it meant saving Great Britain and her Empire. That is what so endeared him to us Americans---he behaved just like 'your typical American' would--a trait he inherited from his American Mother (breeding will tell every time). PM Chamberlain believed in honour, logic and the rule of law. He believe a pledge (or contract) was for life and once violated, the relationship was forever broken. Churchill, on the other hand only looked at the ROI (return on investment.). Hitler, who could sound quiet logical and reasonable when he wanted to was someone Chamberlain believed he could deal with (as opposed to those Godless Commies). Hitler turned out to be as bad or worse than Stalin which meant Coach Chamberlain had to go. He was sacked. When Britain & France declared war on Germany, in SEP1939, the 'pledge' to Poland was that both countries would IMMEDIATELY and VIOLENTLY come to Poland's AID by attacking Germany. That didn't happen. France made a half hearted demonstration before the Saar and then beat feet back to French terra firma. GB, on the other hand, dropped some leaflets and attempted to do some bombing IF IT DIDN"T DAMAGE CIVILIAN HOUSES, PORT FACILITIES OR FACTORIES. That's why they called it the PHONY WAR (SITZKRIEG). Poland had bled Germany white of resources, meaning from 11SEP39-11APR1940, Germany was ripe for the taking but France didn't have the manpower or will to mount full combat operations and Chamberlain wouldn't committed to an offensive if France wasn't involved. France caused France's route in WWII---Germany had no business attacking but gambled it. The NORWAY Campaign was an Allied Act of stupidity of the GREATEST ORDER. The Allied ORIGINAL GOAL was to send troops to attack the Soviets in Finland---as if it were 1919, not 1939!!! Britain & France against Germany and Russia 1940....NO PROBLEM!!! Fortunately for all parties concerned, Norway resisted the troop insertion and Finland gave up before the Allies could 'fight their way through!!! As the allies were containing the Germans in Norway (also known as the death rattle of the surface fleet KreigsMarine), all hell broke out on the Western Front. France SHOULD HAVE LOST WWI (Dreyfus Affair, Anti-Catholic Policies, Panther Crisis, Madam Caillaux murder trial, Battle of the Frontiers defeats, 1917 Mutinies) but persevered and won it. France SHOULD HAVE WON WWII (more troops, better equipment than the Bosche) but lost the war in N-I-N-E days (10MAY-19MAY1940). Churchill flew over to France to personally chastise the French. He glared at Marshall Petain and sneered "Are you Frenchies Drunk on that famous wine of yours? Where's that famous fighting spirit of PM Clemenceau who said "Nons allons nous battre 'EN FACE DE PARIS, A PARIS ET DERRIERE PARIS?!!! [We will fight IN FRONT OF PARIS, IN PARIS AND BEHIND PARIS!!!]. Marshall Petain just looked down at his shoes "Messr. Churchill, in 1914 I had 60 Reserve Divisions---in 1940, I have none. Marshall Petain asked 'Where's the BEF and the Air Craft you promised us" and Churchill looked down at his shoes!!! Churchill was livid "Nine days?!!! It took me NINE days just to pack to come over here...how can the war be lost in just nine days? Petain said "I have no tanks and no airplanes---I'd KILL to have the tanks I had in WWI. Churchill suggested Petain move his armies to Brittany and form a National Redoubt and then switch his army over to Guerrilla Warfare and wait for the Americans. Petain asked and when will the Americans be arriving and Churchill looked down at his shoes again. Churchill then asked about the French Fleet and said it must immediately set sail for England or France must scuttle it. Churchill then said if France surrendered to Germany and surrendered its fleet to the Germans, he (Churchill) will destroy every Atlantic Port France has and will attack its fleet. Marshall Petain then phoned President Levan(?) and asked what are his instructions "Our Ally is threatening us". Thirty days later (29JUN1940) France Surrendered to Germany and WWII was over. Churchill BEGGED FDR for assistance and the Americans gave him the brush off. Why? Ambassador Kennedy's reports were DEAD ON---England escaped the Norway and French campaigns with most of her soldiers but she sustained high equipment loss. Even without the French Navy England's goose was good as cooked and everyone INCLUDING Churchill knew this. Ask how Winston Churchill celebrated America's Forth of July in 1940? He opened fire on the French Fleet at Mers El Kebir as well as seizing all French assets in English Waters ( Churchill killed more French sailours that the Japanese killed Americans at Pearl Harbour & Bin Laden killed when he brought the World Trade buildings (Twin Towers) down on 9-11-2001). What was FDR's reaction to Churchill's dastardly act? He lent him 50 old 4 stack destroyers and opened the floodgates to Lend-Lease purchases. "That was a 'gangster' you just did to your Ally France. That means you are serious about resisting the Germans---here, Merry Christmas!!!
