Zionism and Its Incongruity in Islamic Middle Eastern LifeReader comment on item: Morsi Could Discredit Muslim Brotherhood Rule Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 4, 2012 at 16:40 While there is little that Slayhy and this reader may have in common regarding our specialized differences, an agreement lays here in that the observation of the majority of Muslim Egyptians not wanting to continue peaceful relations with Israel is correct. The Muslim Brotherhood and similarly aligned sympathies of many not in the Brotherhood have been anti-Zionistic for as long as those antipathies have been recorded. It will never be solved in this lifetime. Even as Egypt signed that uncanny peace accord with Israel back so many years ago, it was not so much that Egypt desired that peace as much as they were tired of losing to Israel and they wanted the Sinai back under Islamic control. Sadat paid for it with his life. Mubarak paid the second installment. What becomes more enigmatic for many is that the factiousness seen in Egypt is emblematic for all of Islam; that the only place of focus is towards Israel; all other Muslim issues become reasons for directing energies not pointed at Israel towards the differing sectors of Islam.
