What does the future hold for Morsi on July 1/2013Reader comment on item: Morsi Could Discredit Muslim Brotherhood Rule Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jun 23, 2013 at 12:55 Dr. Pipes I'm sure that you are aware that there will be demostrations against Morsi (his 1st anniversary in power) and this will take place on June 30/2013 and here are his real problems 1. He has no like for the Copts but they are close to 10-12M and they have no reason to like him. If he was smart enough he would have taken a few steps to gain their support as in attending the funeral of the late Pope Shenouda or the inauguration of the recent Pope Tawardros and he would have done something about the attack on the Coptic cathedral of the attacks on Copts and their Churhces all over Egypt but he is not smart 2. He has no like for the Egyptian Shi3a or for Shi3a Islam and there are about 2-3M Shi3a in Egypt who have no like for him or for the attacks of the Sheikhs of Sunni Islam on Shi3a islam and I do not see a Shi3a in Egypt voting for MB 3. There are about 15M Sufis in Egypt whose shrines have been destroyed and vandalized and they also have no like for the MB or for Morsi 4. So far out of a total of 80M Egyptians some 30M would want to have nothing to do with the MB or with Morsi 5. There is no doubt that there is a significant part of the population that is secular be it in the arts or mass media who view the ikhwan as a bunch of liars and hate mongers and they would also like to see him gone 6. Morsi is a liar as in claiming that he used to be a consultant for NASA 7. But most significant to Egyptian nationalists that Morsi really does not care about Egypt as one of his aids said: Toz fi Masr or to hell with Egypt and he does not seem to mind to give halayeb wa shlateen to Sudan 8. As for the Nile water he wants war with Ethiopia then he wants peace and negotiations and only Allahu a3lam and this change in opinion takes place in two days 9. but the economy seems to be his Achilles Tendon and the problems with the lack of gas for cooking and power black outs and the inflation that is affecting every one and the decrease in the value of the Egyptian pound and under and un-employment that is rising 10 Also his silly fights with rich Egyptians that can create wealth as in the case of Naguib Sawiras was more evidence that he is a man that is vindictive and who has big time ego 11. But the most important disaster was the hiring of a follwer of the terrorist organization el-Gammi3a el-Islamiyya that were responsible for the attck on the Hatshapsut temple and tourists in the late 1990's as the payor of Luxor and as Egyptians says hamiha haramiha 12. Also his bizarre wish to acheive akhwanat masr or to hire only members of the MB in all postions in government and that good, competent and smart people have no place in running Egypt unless they happen to be members of al-Ikhwan What is going to happen on June 30? i suspect that we will have the Mea Culpa from that man that is no more than a hypocrite and he will try to stay in office All we can do is wait and shout with the people of Egypt and tell Morsi: Irhal irhal or get lost Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
