Asleep at the SwitchReader comment on item: Using Cold War Tactics to Confront Iran Submitted by Joe (United States), Jan 20, 2013 at 12:16 Daniel, I just found this news clip on YNet. Basically, the IRANIANS are saying the overthrow of Assad is a "red line". I think this is something that isn't discussed much by ME experts. It seems to me, the overthrow of Assad is EXTREMELY important in halting the growth of the Islamist/anti-Israel/anti-western axis. Where is Obama? Where is Israel? This is an opportunity we could miss just like the dissolution of the USSR. Don't tell me the US (or Israeli) intelligence couldn't place Assad is a building (like the Opera House Speech) and then launch a missile from a drone. Israel and the US do this ALL THE TIME against Hamas, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. Chopping of the Syrian-Baathist head would further isolate Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah, and I don't know why we're not making this happen! http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4334729,00.html Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
