Supposing Mahomet never existed and the corpse in the Green Mosque in Medina is not his, how do hope to ever convince any Mahometan that Islam is a misunderstanding and that he actually believes in a big absurd lie ?

I really care less if they believe or not that the Islamic historical tradition is the biggest literary fraud in the history of mankind which it is but we here in the West follow what the Greeks left as their great legacy that claims invite scrutiny and the more one examine islam and its history the more it falls apart

I'm also sure that you are aware that when Wellhausen wrote his Prolegomena of the Hebrew Bible he was told why did you write it after all no sane Jew or Christian will read it or believe it and within 100 years no sane Jew or Christian would not believe what he wrote

If I were a Moslem I wouldn't believe you and no rational argument would work with me. After all you or Ianus are kafirs and I am a Moslem and a Moslem always "knows" better.

Sure and with the lack or critical thinking and education in the Muslim world and with the lack of translations of any serious work about the history of early Islam into Arabic there is a problem indeed and even if one is to examine the evidence be it literary or coins or epigraphy one must have great command not just of critical thinking but also knowledge of the historical method and the languages of late antiquity be it Syriac, Coptic, Greek, Hebrew, Pahlavi and if one is to read the Armenian literary sources then Armenian too and how many Arabs and Muslims have great command of these languages? My educated guess none

Can anything be done to tackle this problem?

Change the education system from rote to critical thinking and you will see the change but maybe i'm just a naive optimist
