me and three other guysReader comment on item: Futile Israeli Efforts to Win Ankara Back Submitted by myth (Germany), Feb 19, 2013 at 10:55 I enjoyed the movie "Charlie Wilson's war". When asked by a US congressman who is working on an Afghanistan policy (in the 80s) a CIA operative answered "me and three other guys". Are there at least three guys in Israel thinking about a policy toward Turkey? Giving arms away on no condition at all is a military version of Obama's plan (I paraphrase) to " spread the weapons around". Has this ever worked? None of the fine Mig29 the Soviet Union gave to the eastern European countries stopped them from joining NATO. I even saw one in West Germany when the Bundeswehr were testiflying them after the Cold war. Israel should know better. They get German submarines at special get-two-for-the-price-of-one discounts. This is the silent type, capable of approaching US carriers. We give those submarines only to Israel because we are certain that, whoever is in government in Israel, will use them right. Who can say the same about Turkey? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
