drone assassinations - who do I trust

Plato, I am often confronted with the drone assassination comparison. The usual way to respond is with a rational argument. It starts from abstracts principles and concludes the West shines as morally superior. To me this seems reverse engineering. I mean that one constructs the details of the principles in order to produce the intended conclusion.

My standpoint is emotional. Do I trust the US? Do I trust the islamists? I have personal experiences with the British and American military here in Germany. From this experience I am confident they are the good guys and they deserve trust. When in future the drone attacks stop, who do I wish to "meet again some sunny day"?
