Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Mar 3, 2013 at 08:19 Dr. Pipes el-ikhwangiyya had no like for Taha Hussein because he wrote his famous book في الشعر الجاهلي or fi al-shi3r al-gahili or his study of the pre-islamic Arabian poetry Hussein's thesis was that the Muslim masorites that were working on the Qur'an in the 3rd century of Islam in Mesopotamia realized that the Qur'an indeed has its share of mistakes in spelling of perfect Arabic words and mistakes in grammar and strange syntax and foreign words and words that have no meaning and indeed the way out of this was for the masorites to use pre-Islamic poetry as the evidence that the above linguistic problems are not really problems because this was the language (allbeit full of mistakes) that was used by the Arabs before Islam (case in point was In Ibn Kathir's exegesis of the celebrated mistake of in hadhan lasahiran or Q20:63 that this was the language of some Arabs) Now what Taha Hussein proved is that almost all of this pre-Islamic poetry were blatant forgeries created by the ulama in the 3rd century in-order to explain all these linguistic disasters in the Qur'an Now we pass forward to the now famous confrontation between Taha Hussein and el-ikhwan students at Cairo university where many shouted (in protest to his book): Down with the blind professor to which Taha Hussein's answer was: I thank Allah for being blind (He was indeed blind from childhood) so I do not have to see your ugly faces What a great man Again if el-salafiyeen did cover the famous Zeus and the mermaids fountain in Alexnandria then it is not surprising that these acts of vandalism are taking place Submitting....
