Lessons Learned and Lessons Still to be LearnedReader comment on item: Mainstream Jewish Institutions Celebrate Anti-Zionists Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Apr 8, 2013 at 11:51 In considering the bewilderment of why 'Jewish' personages would adopt an antithetical position to the rights of Israel to be Jewish in a land rich with its own heritage, there is the issue that goes back millennia to the inception of the original Jewish kingdom and its formation under King Saul. The Jewish people of that time were no longer interested in being a theocracy and demanded of the prophet to proclaim someone king. The Eternal Sovereign of Israel conceded with a purpose; to show them what a human king would do to them. In verification of Moses' proclamation, they found out. They are still finding out. Understanding this, an 'aha' moment is achieved and the Ezekiel-Zechariah prophecies come into clear perspective. The antipathies towards 'Zionism' now become clearer as the Jewish State continues in conflict after conflict towards one resolution in ignorance of the process they must endure to become the national entity the world clearly does not want them to achieve; and the Jewish person that gives credence to the likes of Brandeis, the Republican Jewish Coalition and Cardozo Law School and their honorees are their own worst enemies. It is like watching in a mirror the self-loathing of an innate character trait that cannot be shaken. Now if appeasement appears to be the product of such attitudes, remember (especially in this season of Yad Vashem) there are still those who survived and those who did not escape the last attempts of appeasement. The fact that even in those communities those memories are being lost to a successive generation that will not take the time to learn the lesson and the lesson will return to be taught again, its inevitability is assured, if for no other reason than the attitudes we read of in Dr. Pipes commentary.
