Not "generosity", but rather obsequiousnessReader comment on item: Mainstream Jewish Institutions Celebrate Anti-Zionists Submitted by Dan Simon (United States), Apr 13, 2013 at 00:29 The modern American Jewish leaders who openly court anti-Semites aren't being generous to virulent anti-Semites in the hope of better treatment for the Jewish people as a whole--they're kowtowing to powerful anti-Semites in the hope of better treatment for themselves, at the expense of the Jewish people as a whole. The leadership of Yeshiva and Brandeis Universities, the 92nd St. Y, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and so on have nothing to fear and nothing to gain from the likes of Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu or Rachel Corrie's hagiographers. But they do very much want to ingratiate themselves with the leftist establishment that dominates the academic and cultural circles in which they live and strive for advancement. Ostentatiously embracing anti-Zionism burnishes their leftist bona fides and insulates them against the charge of "dual loyalty"--that is, of greater loyalty to Judaism than to leftism. In this respect, they are no different from the thousands of striving, upwardly mobile converts and assimilated Jews of past generations, who routinely adopted the genteel anti-Semitism of the upper classes of their time and place, the better to both blend in among them and distance themselves from their despised, persecuted fellow Jews.
