Should Israel push to attack IraqReader comment on item: Brent Scowcroft is Wrong: We Must Attack Saddam Submitted by Ben Shniper (United States), Aug 21, 2002 at 23:07 A news flash came out two days ago from the Jerusalem Post, saying the Jewish State is not pushing to attack Iraq, nor is it dictating a time schedule. But Iraq will probably send scuds over Israel when America attacks it. Since America is going to HAVE TO ATTACK Iraq anyway, considdering that Saddam is going to be so much of a menace as to make it necessary to do so, why not do it sooner? My army friend assures me that it is purely for military reasons. The army is in no shape to conduct an invasion, and the reason why only special units were sent to Afghanistan is partially because of this. I'm skeptical, though. Saddam has proven that he will attack us. And we should have listened to you before Sept. 11th, and we should probably listen to you now. But might it not be better to push for a Kurdish coup, like in Russia, rather than invade, and possibly make enemies? Why not go for the coup in this case, and possibly spare Israel a scudding and possibly spare ourselves some more enemies? I think Israel should be pushing for an insurrection. It's not like Saddam isn't doing that in Israel in paying $25,000 a severed Palestinian head.
