The time is ripe for peaceReader comment on item: Pipes criticises Middle East leaders Submitted by Moshe Katz (United States), Mar 9, 2005 at 09:58 We need to stop focusing on the Arab leaders - they are worthless dictators who cling to power and nothing else. What we need to do is make peace with the Palestinians. Together, the Palestinians and Israelis, can become an economic powerhouse, with both people thriving and surviving. Everyone in the region is tired of the conflict. Israel isn't going anywhere and the Jewish people will never liquidate the Palestinians, it isn't in our nature. So the end result is the need to find a compromise. The solution has always been there, the people just need to grasp it. It is time we forget about the "Arabs" and find a workable solution with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. Anyone living in Israel understands that we are so intertwined with them that this concept of total separation will never work. Two states living in peace and forging an alliance will keep all secure. If you give Palestinians hope and economic strength, they themselves will destroy the terror groups. Keep them hungry and hopeless and they 'll continue to join them. We need to come to terms with our own history. We cannot continue to deny that Palestinians existed or didn't exist. They were there when we came and to deny this just adds insult to an already fragile situation. Peace is in our reach, we must take it!
