Response to PraibinReader comment on item: Obama's Foreign Fiasco Submitted by Bryan Schmick (United States), Aug 27, 2013 at 02:10 1) The US spent a little over 1 trillion in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars spread out over 10 years. During that time, we threw away more in stimulus spending. The actual cost of those two wars was minimal compared to the deficit in the last four years. 2) The time to respond in the Syrian civil war was in the first year when secularists ran the rebellion. Three years later, anti-Americans run both sides of the conflict. Now that the French are considering military actions, Pres Obama will consider following. 3) The US does not need to be seen as the world policeman, but as pres Obama said, we have a responsibility to protect (except where it might lead to Republican support). The best thing the US can do to defuse the middle east is to take the money out of it by increasing the world supply of oil. This will force the violence enablers to redirect their own money.
