Reader comment on item: A Prof [Hamid Dabashi] Tangles the Truth

Submitted by B. Alotaibi (United States), Apr 2, 2005 at 12:50

Most of what you are talking about regarding the Middle East is true and accurate. You speak the language and you know the religion. I do speak the language with all the dialects but my main understandings in Islam are Salfists and Wahabisms.

The two sects above are the ones who in my belief will take us to destruction. Hamas, Husbollah, Islamic Jihad and others are defiantly deadly group, but the long-term threat to our national security will come from the Salafists as well as the Wahabisim. I said this before and sure would say it in the future.

This deadly ideology that I just happened to listen to today, Friday 1st in Saudi Arabia, is the very deadly one. In the Mosque today in the city of Riyadh, the Mutawa (Imam) just condemned (as always) the Jews and the Christians as the source of all evils in this planet. He called for their destruction (all of them with no mercy) men, women, kids…no distinction. This is what I call destructive ideology.

Our national security is indeed in jeopardy as long as this ideology exists.
