What is next for ISIS?Reader comment on item: Syria's Looming Water Calamity Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Aug 10, 2014 at 06:58 Dr. Pipes The Turks and Erdogan might believe that they are immune from the terrorist group ISIS but this is far from the truth. The Arab invasion of the civilized Middle East can indeed help us to understand what is happening now. Take the case of Egypt: Muslim historians tell us that only 4000 Arabs (and yes this could very well be the topos of 4 40 400 4000) nonetheless they were able to defeat the mighty Byzantine army and subdue with ease the large population of Egypt which was 7 millions. And if we have 4000 fighters that are eager to fight invade loot and destroy because they loved fighting and looting and their deity told them to do so and if they die they will go to heaven and get the 72 virgins and the boys of heaven then the pieces of the puzzle will fall in place And this is indeed what is going on in Iraq the civilized is happy with his/her life and when he/she is attacked by a few thousands (criminals and terrorists) then the outcome becomes clear and the civilized will lose Next? The barbarian just like cancer will invade more lands and in the case of ISIS it will be Kurdistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and yes Turkey Even Iran will not be immune and as for Israel ISIS will pose a serious threat to the Jewish state Now back to Turkey and Erdogan they should wake up and realize that Turkey in facing a serious challenge from ISIS and even if they would support ISIS now this would not stop ISIS from thinking or acting on the ultimate Islamic dream of occupying Roma (read this as Constantinople) again Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
