To each his own sinReader comment on item: The Muslim Brotherhood's Place in Islamist Politics Submitted by Michael S. (United States), Sep 15, 2014 at 02:53 Hi, Dave. Your data seems accurate. "Honor" killings, such as what you describe, have probably never been part of Christian culture. Women were stoned for adultery and other crimes, on rare occasions, some 2000 years ago; and some women were burned or hanged as witches up to about 1650. In more modern times, women in India were expected to throw themselves on the funeral pyres of their husbands -- probably more so the community wouldn't have to support the widows, more than out of a sense of "honor". At the very least, then, the Muslim honor killings seem out-of-step with the times. There is a divide in the world, between "modern" or "civilized" countries such as the US, Western Europe and Japan and Korea, on the one hand, and "Third World" countries such as India, Indonesia and Brazil. The former tend toward rampant adultery, homosexuality, hedonism and general godlessness; and the latter tend toward deep religious faith, poverty and corruption. In between are current and former Communist countries, the "Second World" led by Russia and China. The whole world will soon be judged; because all mankind is excessively proud, selfish and ACTUALLY Godless, no matter what their religion. They differ among themselves, of course, in their particular sins. For the Muslims, honor killings stand out as one such sin.
