Saudi self-destruct: silver liningReader comment on item: Might the Saudis Blow Up Their Oil Infrastructure? Submitted by Gary Goldman (United States), May 11, 2005 at 20:42 I have long thought the smartest thing the United States could do would be to do exactly what the Saudi monarchy is threatening to do: stop Saudi oil production. 1) It takes the Saudis out of the equation. They will no longer have any power. 2) The whole world shares the cost (of higher petro) equally. The US economy merely pays its share. 3) The world economy suffers a jolt and then moves on. 4) The most brilliant part is getting the Saudis to do it for us. -- How do we get them to press the button?Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
